"Your kids will learn from more than what you tell them.
They don't remember what you try to teach them.
They remember what you are."
~ Jim Henson
I am an educator for anti-racism, anti-oppression, diversity and inclusion.
I seek to decolonize education.
I believe that all learners have the potential to achieve greatness.
My commitment to education taught across all subject areas through social innovation and an equity/anti-bias/anti-racist/anti-oppression/decolonizing praxis is engaging, authentic, relevant, and empowering.
Education has the power to liberate and humanize.
To transform.
I work alongside learners to co-create a vibrant learning experience that fosters community-building built on high expectations, respect, truth, humility, gratitude, and teamwork.
Learners are encouraged to pursue their interests, discover their passions, and develop their critical consciousness, empowering them to be agents of change and helpers in society.
While critically engaging with ministry curricula, I deliver strong language and math programs enriched with actual-world applications. Students learn purposefully, making the learning experience authentic and meaningful.
All learners, especially those from marginalized communities, see themselves reflected in their learning and are motivated to be successful.
Student success cannot happen without creating the spaces for it.
Each child deserves to learn in spaces where they are treated with dignity and their identities are embraced, free from assumptions and without fear. It is essential to cultivate inclusive spaces, so all learners can be who they are and have the multifarious layers of their identity celebrated and accepted.
Brave learning spaces are encouraged so that all voices, knowledge, ways of knowing, and lived experiences are heard and validated because we learn best from each other. There is immeasurable value in this. Learning spaces must reflect and represent the present and absent bodies to create a truly inclusive space where all are welcome.
It is a space where mistakes are celebrated as opportunities for growth.
As a co-learner with my students, I happily share my ongoing love of learning. Together, we set individual and collectiveare goals to grow academically, emotionally, socially, mentally, and physically.
We can level the playing field for our learners by working together so that this does not remain a dream or an idea but a lived culture rooted in mutual respect, understanding, and love.
"Education has gotten us into this mess, and education will get us out."
~ Senator Murray Sinclair
